The purpose of this tool, is to allow you to experiment with the possible financial impact of Johne's Disease to your herd.

Please note: As with online calculators for pensions, this tool is designed to help you consider your options in relation to reducing risk of Johne’s Disease coming in to your herd or passing between animals in your herd. It is designed to give estimates of the impact based on some assumptions, and the numbers you enter. It is NOT designed to accurately predict all possible financial outcomes.

How does it work?

Firstly, you will be asked to provide some baseline values for your current herd. These values include information on your herdsize, value and your purchasing preferences. None of this information is stored after you leave the tool.

Once you've entered all your baseline values, you'll be given your herd value without and without Johne's. You'll also be offered the chance to consider some ways of mitgating the impact of Johnes.

We hope that this helps raise some awareness around the possible impact of Johne's disease and some of the ways that it might be reduced. We would encourage you to discuss Johne's disease with your vet or farm advisor, should you have one.
